Ambit Energy is coming to Ohio but will Ohioan's see them as a solution to saving on energy bills or just another shady company with a scam product? Due to deregulation in the energy markets many new energy companies are sprouting up all over Ohio which gives consumers a choice of who they buy their gas and electric from. This opens options and provides consumers the opportunity to shop and compare energy rates. One such company is Ambit Energy. Ambit Energy, based in Dallas Texas, is a residential energy provider currently providing natural gas and electric service to residents of Texas, New York and Illinois. Ambit has competitive energy rates but with an often suspicious twist...

Jere W.Thompson, Jr and Chris Chamless are co-founders of Ambit Energy. Both executives get their roots from a background in telecommunications during the times of deregulation in the telecom industry in the mid 1990's. They both bring a mix of talents and resources from the development and growth of their previous telecom companies. Making the switch from phone service to energy made for an easy transition and along with the switch came a creative marketing talent.

Marketing energy and acquiring customers from the former monopolies is not always and easy task. Rates are competitive and marketing cost can run high. There is also a misconception by consumers who rely on their utilities service and fear an interruption in supply from a new company. This can cause an energy prospect to become hesitant to switch providers. However, in reality, it is the same gas and same electric coming through the same pipes and wires as before. All energy is regulated by the Public Utilities Commission. The only difference is who the consumer makes the check out to. Ambit Energy realized the difficult task to sway a new customer to their side and applied a completely different marketing approach to their business.

Ambit Energy doesn't run TV ads, put up billboards, or put advertisements in magazines and newspapers like most energy companies. Instead they choose to use the Multi-Level Marketing model to sell their products. They call it "word of mouth advertising". Many people consider MLM companies to be scams or pyramids schemes. Statistics have shown that 95% of the people who join a network marketing company never make any money usually due to a lack of marketing training. This marketing approach has been around for a long time but has left many hopeful network marketers with a sour taste in their mouth.

So I ask... How will Ohio people react to Ambit Energy if they can make money off of their own energy bill and a few of their friends and how will the Ohio consumer react to an MLM energy company coming to their town?

While some Ohioan's may scoff at Ambit Energy's marketing plan their results can not be disputed. Ambit Energy has gained significant market share in Texas, Illinois and New York. They will soon be coming to Ohio and plan to expand across the U.S. into most states. Though they use an alternative and sometimes questionable marketing approach they have consistently proven to offer some of the lowest energy rates in their current marketing regions. While some might cry "Pyramid Scheme" others might say what a perfect business. With nearly all MLM companies the products they offer are non-essential. People don't need the typical MLM product to live out their every day life. With Ambit Energy the product is essential and is used by practically everyone. How easy would it be to switch your energy over to Ambit Energy at a reduced rate plus earn a little from your own bill and a few of your friends?

If Ohio is anything like Texas, New York and Illinois then Ambit Energy should be a big hit among Network Marketer's and the Ohio consumer. With rising energy costs, Ambit Energy very well could be the solution for lower residential energy costs. As for Ambit's MLM marketing approach, three states have already approved Ambit Energy, most recently the New York Public Service Commission. As for Ambit Energy in Ohio being the solution or the scam, it looks as if they will be the solution, but as with all things the consumer will ultimately decide. As they say "The Proof be in the Puddin"
