The job prospect within the alternate energy sector is not only bright because it is the latest sunshine industry of the world with promising future, but also because all the initiatives are backed by government support and push from the highest quarters. Even the President of the US is keen to develop homegrown renewable fuels in the US. To achieve this the country is investing enormous amount of resources towards development of advanced technologies to produce ethanol from plant fibers - or plant biomass, which is currently rejected as waste material.
The sincerity of the President as well as the government to invest more in this sector is evident when we find that the Federal Budget of 2007 includes $150 million ($59 million more than 2006 budget) to develop biofuels from plant wastes like wood chips, corn stalks and switch grass. The vast amount of agricultural waste could be a viable source for the production of self-grown biofuels - an indispensable part in the growth of the alternate energy sector.
To make the technology more cost competitive, experts recommend the option of researching further into cellulose-based ethanol production, which can by 2012, replace 30% of the nation's existing fuel consumption. The federal authorities are also keen on hybrid cars for the next generation of car owners. Over and above the plug-in hybrid vehicles renewed focus is being given to the development of battery technology of hybrid vehicles. This is because plug-in hybrid vehicles run on gasoline or electricity depending on the computer programming. With greener fuels, driving within city limits would consume almost zero gasoline.
