Alkaline Diets

Alkaline diets are diets that involve eating food that maintains a ph balance above 7. The ph scale is what is used to determine how acidic or alkaline something is. 7 is neutral which means that it is neither acidic or alkaline. Anything above 7 is considered alkaline anything below is considered acidic. Alkaline diets take a list of foods that are considered to be alkaline or that don't create acid in the body when they are digested and recommend that people eat these foods.

Why choose alkaline diets? Some people believe that the way we eat in today's society is extremely harmful to our health. They believe that eating overly acidic foods is detrimental the health of the cells and blood of the body. Unfortunately, there has not been many human trials to reference this data scientifically but there have been a number of people who have tried alkaline diets and have reported remarkable health benefits.

Some of the health benefits of Alkaline diets include: increased energy, weight loss, less dependence or no dependence on insulin for diabetes patients, no more acid reflux, improved hair, nails, skin, better sleep patterns, mental clarity, relief of symptoms of candida and gout just to name a few.

It has also been reported to be very successful in treating cancer. It is true that cancer cells are dormant at a ph of 7.4. So it makes sense that if you were able to achieve alkalinity within the body that it could improve the condition of cancer, but unfortunately there is not significant scientific data to back up these claims. At the forefront of alkaline diets, is a man by the name of Robert Young. Robert Young is a microbiologist who has been involved with alkaline diets for several decades. He believes alkaline diets to be the cure for all sickness and disease. He has wrote several books on the subject.

The theory behind alkaline diets is that the body functions natural in an alkaline state. The blood within your bloodstream in fact has a ph of 7.3. Dr. Robert Young states that the body fights tooth and nail to maintain this alkaline balance, but in today's world with our bodies being bombarded by more and more toxins each and everyday our bodies are fighting a losing battle causing acid to build up in our systems. This he explains is why diseases such as cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, etc... are on the rise.
