Alabama, also known as the "Heart of Dixie," is a state located in the southeastern region of the U.S. It is bordered by Georgia on the east, Mississippi on the west, Florida and the Gulf of Mexico on the south and Tennessee on the north. In terms of total land area, Alabama ranks 30th in the U.S. It ranks second, when it comes to the size of inland waterways. Its capital city is Montgomery.
