Expert Author Suzie Sanchez

Airsoft is a military war game simulation sport where the players from opposing team engage each other in a mock combat with 1:1 scale Airsoft replicas of real guns. Most of the weapons used in Airsoft games are battery-powered firearms called Automatic Electric Gun, or AEG. These are loaded with six millimeter biodegradable plastic pellets which could come hurtling at an average of six hundred fifty feet per second.

Airsoft games also require a great deal of agility, skill, stealth, and tactical planning. Situations in Airsoft games are so fluid that you are made to perform different actions based on what you see and observe around you. This is why it has achieved skyrocketing popularity because of the game's ability to give the participants a full body and mental workout, aside from allowing them the opportunity to release any built up tension in their system.

Although almost anybody can join the games, federal regulators have capped the playing age at 18, meaning, anyone below that age are not allowed to participate. This is because the guns used in the games closely resemble the real thing when it comes down to appearance, size, weight, handling, and operation, and so regulations provide that this gaming weapons must be treated like real guns. Minors are therefore discouraged to own or join the games. Furthermore, it is also the view of these regulators that minors are still handicapped when making correct decisions and mistakes committed in Airsoft games might lead to certain injuries.

Airsoft is a highly regulated sport because of the amount of realism it exudes. Aside from the realistic guns that are used by the participants, a lot of real military gears like communication sets, camouflage uniforms, and camouflaged military vests are also being utilized. This is why the games organizers are very careful in allowing those who wanted join.

Although not prohibited from joining the game, persons who have serious coronary or respiratory ailments are being discouraged to participate in airsoft games because of the fact that the strenuous activity may worsen their condition. Bear in mind that the games may involve a lot of running and jumping over ditches or ground depressions. This kind of activity may not be much for people who are fit, but it certainly could be fatal for people who have serious problems with hearts or lungs.

Since Airsoft games require a lot of physical and mental activity, not to mention the realistic gears that are utilized in playing the sport, only those who are eighteen years old and above, with no serious respiratory or coronary disorders are encouraged to join.
