Aging Gracefully - How to Do It

Healthy eating is on the top of the list when it comes to aging gracefully. Most people today never grow old, that's because they die young. The cause - too much junk on their diet. If you want your brain and body to remain strong and healthy even as you age, practice healthy eating. Include more fruits and vegetables and other antioxidant-rich food in your diet.

Get rid of bodily wastes and toxins by drinking a good amount of water every day. Water is very crucial when it comes to proper digestion so instead of ordering iced tea or soda every time you eat in a restaurant, just drink water. Water is also considered as the most effective moisturizer. No wonder why people who can't get enough of water have dry skin.

When you usually feel weaker than you probably should, maybe that's because you spend most of your time sitting or lying around doing nothing. Regular exercise will help you maintain your bones and muscles as you grow older. A 30-minute brisk walking exercise daily will also strengthen your heart and reduce your risk for life-threatening diseases.

It is all too important that you get at least 8 hours of sleep every day. Lack of sleep is the leading cause of memory loss for most aging people. Every 3 seconds a large number of our cells dies and are being replaced by new ones. When you sleep, your body's ability to heal itself is enhanced, making you feel younger and stronger.

Have a positive outlook in life. Do not dwell on the bad things that you are undergoing since all these things will just cause depression and we all know that depression can result to a lot of serious illnesses. Instead of murmuring most of the time, speak life and be grateful for everything that you have in your life at the moment.

And finally, get rid of the number one killer in the world today - stress! Studies have shown that when people are stressed, they age rapidly than they should. When under heavy stress, the body's ability to fight off sickness is weakened. Your best defense against stress? REST. Take a break from the worries of life and relax.
