There was a time not so long ago that an entrepreneur could make a decent second income, if not a living, using Google AdWords.
There are some programs being sold today that still claim that is true. The problem with the premise behind those programs is that one has to choose keywords that do not generate much traffic or competition in order to enable the marketer to achieve a low cost per click average. Well, this breaks down into two areas of relative failure before the individual even gets started.
Traffic Is King
First, in order to get sales one has to be able to put their presentation in front of lots of people and organizations. It is just a fact that traffic drives sales (assuming the site content is good) so if one chooses search phrases that have a low number of monthly searches then the chances for a commission automatically starts off at a disadvantage if not stalled altogether.

Second, good costs per click are subjective compared to the quality of traffic they generate. For some PPC guru to tell us that getting.30 cent clicks is a steal but not telling us that low quality traffic is nothing but a money pit just doesn't help anyone. The new person to internet marketing, hoping they have stumbled upon a legitimate source of income, will most likely loose their entire investment and see few if any sales - not to mention stop trying altogether.

So what is needed at this point are sources with good advertising volume at affordable costs per click. Not only that, but for those sources not to limit those who want to do direct link to a vendor's sales page. Why shouldn't an affiliate marketer be able to pay for an ad that points directly to a vendor's product? That is one rule that has always bothered me about AdWords.
