Often times, individuals who become involved in affiliate marketing simply jump in and begin making bold and amateurish moves that kill their profits. They jump in and begin making rash decisions because they have failed to put thought and planning into their affiliate promotion strategy. However, if you desire to be successful with affiliate marketing and desire to generate revenue then you have no other choice but to formulate an effective affiliate promotion strategy before you even get started.

An affiliate business strategy is much like creating a backbone for your company. With this strategy you need to simply create a list wherein you put down the various ways in which you plan to take advantage of this method. Once you have this list created, you need to then create a list of rules for your affiliate marketing program.

These rules should include things such as: never spam customers with unsolicited advertisements or promotions, never sell or trade the personal information that I collect from my customers, and never attempt to over sell products in a way that appears harassing.

The idea behind creating this backbone and set of rules is to make sure that your companies integrity and reputation are not tarnished by your marketing. You want to make sure that every move you make falls in line with your backbone and rules. If a new method of affiliate marketing is brought to the table but doesn't meet the standards that you have created, then you should immediately put a stop to that method and seek out a new means of affiliate promotion.
