Affiliate internet marketing is a great way to make a living, earn the extra cash you need, or just do something you really enjoy! But a lot of people hesitate to get started because they are afraid of being scammed by all the products, programs and materials that are offered. Often they think they may be able to get started and be successful without any of these products or services and keep that money in their own pockets.
All internet marketers have to start somewhere, but they don't all start at the same point. Let me give you some things to consider that might help you make some good decisions about what you need and don't need to start your own business so you won't feel like you've been scammed.
1) If you are really tech savvy and know a lot about website development and design, HTML, SEO (search engine optimization), search engine rankings, etc. You may not need any help to get started building your business, but there is still a lot to learn about writing content, niche selection, keyword research and more that programs, books and instruction can really help you with.
2) If you know a little about computers and are willing to learn (which is where I started), you are probably going to need a lot more support and instruction. You should definitely consider subscribing to a company that offers video and printed instruction, client support and a reliable forum for FAQ's. Printed materials or e-books are also helpful in getting started.
3) If you know little or nothing about computers, but are a determined, hard worker with the perseverance to see a project through, you must do your research first and check out information on the internet, read, subscribe to a forum or two and decide if affiliate internet marketing is the right fit for you. If it is, you will want to investigate programs and materials to begin your affiliate marketing education.
A lot of people think they have been scammed because they have to work too hard to get the results they want. They sign up for a program and don't want to write content, review products, work on their blog or website or stay current - but they still want the money to roll in!
Keep this in mind - you shouldn't have to spend big bucks to get started. You can usually get off to a great start for less than $300.00 if you are willing to put in the time and effort, but don't expect overnight success. And if you are starting this business with hopes of being a millionaire you will probably be disillusioned. So, if you are not willing to do the work - don't scam yourself!
