Advantages of Squidoo

Expert Author Will W Davies

Squidoo is one of my favorite Web 2.0 websites for getting free traffic to my website. I use this with many of my sites and promotions and it works time and time again. Below I am going to go through some of the key factors to building a successful Squidoo lens. Squidoo can be very frustrating if you don't build your lenses right so I suggest you follow the steps below. When I started with Squidoo I built a bunch of lenses that barely got any traffic and were not successful at all. Through trial and error I have discovered the crucial methods to build a good lens. SO let's get into it.

The main ingredient of your lens is going to be text. But the way you organize the text is one of the most important factors of your lens. I like to write one introduction paragraph introducing the topic of the lens. This paragraph shouldn't be long at all. The second group of text is my main body paragraph this is a larger group of text in the middle of the page. I usually use bullets to divide up this section so it is easier to read. One of the most important parts of your lens is the visual components. Too much text is boring. I divide every text module with something visual like a picture or a video.

Often what I do after my introduction and before my main body text I put in a video where I talk about the topic and the information I cover in the main body paragraph. If you don't have a video that fits there either use someone else's video, which is fine or put in a picture. I highly suggest that you should have a video somewhere in your lens though. This doesn't need to be a long body paragraph it just needs to break up the text.

Sometimes I'll even break up my main body text into two sections. The idea is that you don't want to have large groups of text. In between my other main groups of text I put in images make them big and colorful and related to your topic. Finally I include a conclusion paragraph as the very last module. This paragraph is pretty basic and summarizes the information you covered in the rest of the lens. This is a great opportunity to include a link to your website. Make a short paragraph below your conclusion that is similar to a resource box in an article.

If you don't know what a resource box looks like it is basically a short plug for your website. Make your resource box concise and related to your lens but add a little extra tip that you can only find on your website or the page you are promoting. The best way to not look spammy is to publish your lens without your link and put that in a little later when your lens is established.

Now you're ready to get out there and make some lenses so get to it and you'll get a ton of awesome quality free traffic. There are endless advantages to making lenses so get started today!
