Add Flavor to Emails - Profit Wildly

Expert Author Chris Litmon

Marketing your products and website online takes practice and a great deal of learning. You'll find that many newbie marketers fall off of the map very fast because of a lack of knowledge about the business. When it comes to email marketing and that of sending emails to those on your mailing list, you have to be able to write great copy.

A well-written email is just as effective as a well-written sales page. Of course you must keep in mind that the purpose of your emails isn't to sell something, it is to persuade as many people as possible to pay your website a visit. The sales letter on your website will do the rest of the work for you.

So what is involved in writing email copy that drives potential customers to your site ready to buy from you? Well you must focus first on your email subject line. Mess this headline up and you can kiss all of your efforts goodbye.

What I've personally found to be of benefit to me are short, catchy phrases that state the main benefit of my email or product. For example let's say you own a website that sells various homemade ice cream recipes. If your email subject line only read "Tons of Ice Cream Recipes Just For You", it wouldn't be as effective as one that reads "Indulge In Butter Pecan Ecstasy".

This email subject line is not only short but also picks at the senses a bit. Any ice cream lover or butter pecan flavor ice cream lover would dive right into your email and read it.

Another thing to keep in mind are the use of bullet points. You have to include those in every promotional email that you send out. This is where you simply pull the greatest benefits of your product and list them in sequential order. Those who skim through your email before reading it will usually read the bullet points first and then decide on whether to examine the rest of your copy. Don't leave those out.

Regardless of what you may have heard, email marketing is far from being dead.
