The main goal and purpose for people owning a home business is to become independent and successful! Many home based business owners are highly driven, motivated, serious, and committed, yet, some will succeed and others will fail. The formula for success has nothing to do with being lucky! Success comes from taking the proper steps to ensure that you will succeed. You need a mentor!

A mentor, coach, or a teacher, is someone who is successful in your chosen business endeavor. So why not learn the ins and outs from someone who has been there and done it? A good mentor should provide and guide you through all the training steps especially when you are trying to get yourself established. There is a huge learning curve for new home business owners just starting out. No doubt you have to be coachable and pay attention to what they are teaching you. Your mentor is there to help you so why mess up your training and perhaps your chance for financial success and independence?

Besides sharing practical knowledge, your mentor should help to keep you motivated and focused. What about accountability? And then there's time management. Just knowing that you have someone else to help you, someone who understands the challenges you're faced with, makes all the difference in the world. They truly want to help you achieve your goals.

It is very important to remember that your home business success or failure is entirely your responsibility! The hard work involved with starting any home business is yours to do. Mr. or Mrs. Mentor is only there to provide guidance, accountability, practical knowledge, and yes even offer moral support. They will commend you and offer advice especially when you err, (you learn by your mistakes), but they will never ever do your work for you!

As an example, how many of you have watched The Biggest Loser"? Bob and Jillian, in my opinion, are more than likely ranked as the top 2 exercise and fitness mentors in the world! I would suggest you watch a show just to see them in action. Forget that it is about losing weight and concentrate on their methods. On this show, the results are about losing weight but the same principles can be applied to your own home business success.

Yes it is possible to achieve your home business success without a mentor, but your chances for success definitely increase with a mentor. Having been on both sides of the fence myself, I can honestly thank my mentor for all his help in achieving my goals.
