Achieve Better Printing Results With These 4 Tips

Printing is a part of a lot of people's lives. Some people who work in offices use them every day to print reports and tables and notices and pay slips, while some people use them at home for homework or letters or even recipes for Pumpkin and Curry soup! For some though, using a printer is a bit of a nightmare: a confusing machine which chews up paper, can't ever seem to link to your computer and has a mysterious 'on' switch which you can never find in a hurry. Sometimes printers feel like they are designed to be as difficult and annoying as possible for people in a rush to use.

Once you have found the 'on' switch and got your printer to recognise your computer, here are some great ways to achieve the best printing results possible.

Select Appropriate Type of Printer

Laser Printer - This type of printer uses the xerographic printing process which involves scanning a laser beam across a photoconducting drum and using electrostatic to fuse dry toner ink to the paper. These are best for quick printing in large quantities as in an office as they can be quite expensive to run.

Inkjet Printer - Does what it says on the tin. This is the most common printer available and it prints by injecting ink onto the page. These are cheaper and more cost effective to run so are best used by the average home user.

Use the Right Paper

Using the right paper can be very important; especially when distributing the document you are working on, or sending it a letter.

Printer/Copier Paper - This is your standard white paper to be used for printing: The higher the 'gsm' (grams per square metre) the better quality the paper.

Photo Paper - This is the same paper they print your photos on when you hand in a film at the chemist: When you buy this paper to use at home, again the higher the 'gsm' the better.

Label Paper - This type of paper is very handy for printing multiple labels. You can find a code on most pieces of label paper which you can input into your printer dialogue page on your computer which lets your computer and printer know exactly what size of label you are making.

Update Hardware

Of course, buying a new printer will help you print better as it will have the most up to date hardware and technology and produce the best results. A good office stationery supplier can often be found quickly and easily online who can provide you with inkjet cartridges and other computer peripherals.

Update Software

Keeping your printer software up to date will help you keep your printer glitch free and iron out any faults that might occur. Visit your printer manufacturer's website for more details.
