If you are thinking about going to a drug rehab center, but you are nervous about taking the plunge for some reason, there is nothing to be scared of. Going to rehab is almost always an inviting and warm experience, and there is nothing to feel intimidated or pressured about when you are there. Many people regret not going to rehab, but almost nobody regrets going to one.

You can expect a detox portion of your treatment to last for the first few days that you are there, depending on what drugs you are coming off from. You can also expect them to keep you somewhat comfortable while you are going through detox by giving you medication. In most rehab centers you can sleep as much as you want while you are in the detox portion of treatment, so there is no reason to think that you will be bothered or be uncomfortable.

After detox is over they will have you go to residential treatment. This is where you attend groups and lectures and meetings all day. If you are nervous about being around people then this part might be what is scaring you. There is really not much to be afraid of though because the atmosphere at pretty much every rehab is warm and welcoming and very laid back. No one is threatening or demanding or likely to put you on the spot for anything at all. You can feel safe and comfortable and secure and slowly get to know a few of your peers in recovery, without being overwhelmed.
