A Unique Broccoli Dish That Tastes Great!

The idea of broccoli tasting great is probably something that doesn't pass much at first glance for most of us. Ah, but it is true. In this article, we take a look at one way to prepare it that will have you digging in.

Broccoli is one of those foods that were a child's terror. It is a vegetable. It is good for you. Mom forced you to eat it. When you dallied, dad gave you "that look." All of this combined to make the big "B" a food that we abandoned as soon as we got out of the house. Even President George W. Bush said, "I do not like broccoli. And I haven't liked it since I was a little kid and my mother made me eat it. And I'm President of the United States and I'm not going to eat any more broccoli." Whatever your politics, many would agree with him on this subject.

The key to broccoli is cooking it one and only one way - steaming. Steaming does something magical to broccoli. It removes the bitter taste and turns it into something delicious. There are different ways to steam it, so the times are relative. Try to get it to the point where it is just turning soft throughout. Make sure to cut a floret in half to see if it is done all the way through.

Once you have the steamed broccoli, you need two other things. The first is dried blueberries. You can find them in any salad section in a grocery store. Just put a quarter handful in and you are ready to go with the next topping. That would be soy sauce. You can drip it over the broccoli in a bowl as you eat. I actually substitute Bragg Amino Acids instead of soy sauce, but both work well.

It may sound strange, but give this dish a try. It is incredibly easy to make and it is healthy for you. If you are trying to lose weigh, eating broccoli is the way to do it. A huge bowl of broccoli contains about 150 calories so you can absolutely pig out and still drop pounds.

The idea of voluntarily eating broccoli as an adult may seem repulsive. Give this dish a try and you'll feel differently.
