A Newbie's Guide To Photography

Expert Author Amy M Chan

Beginners in photography should avoid purchasing an expensive camera. You are still in the learning process and you need to keep practicing first. Practicing is best done with an affordable camera. The last thing you'd want is to buy an overpriced camera. You should stick to an inexpensive one at first and you can decide to switch to a more expensive camera later on when you already have an idea on what to look for in a camera.

A tripod is necessary if you have unstable hands. Again, avoid the expensive ones, you're still learning. Keep expenses low. When the camera is hooked on a tripod it is best that you use the timer function to ensure that stability is attained. If you really want to learn quickly, always bring your camera with you, you wouldn't want to miss a nice scenery just because you felt too lazy to bring your camera. If you didn't bring your camera, you can always go back later on to that location and shoot the picture.

Looking at your surroundings is one thing a photographer has to do. Seeing things at a different perspective might help you catch that once in a lifetime image. There are a lot of ordinary things around us, the sunset, sunrise, bottle of water, flowers, and even our phones. Ordinary as they may seem, looking at them at a photographer's view point makes them amazing. As a photographer, you must be able to gather inspiration from all the normal things around you.

Even if you have a regular camera, it still might be more useful than you think it is. The camera has different functions, be sure to discover all the functions behind it. One way of discovering functions is to see what it does. Pick a scene and try to shoot it as many times as you want using the different functions the camera has to offer. This way, you would really know what effect one function would give out.

To further make your pictures beautiful you should consider learning Adobe Photoshop. These software can enhance the colors add effects to make your picture more striking. If photos have unwanted marks or if the images have red eye then photoshop can be used to edit them all.

These are just three ways on how to learn and become a good photographer. Always remember that experience is still the best teacher, so go out, explore and catch those moments!
