Trout fishing is a great hobby and pass time. The reason fishing for trout is a great comes down to one major thing, its challenging!
You do not know how the fish will react when you get to your location. Many people do not realize that trout can actually smell and see you too. so being quite and avoiding popping the aftershave on for the fishing trip would be advisable.
You have to take into account the water conditions and the weather conditions. The reasons behind this are down to the way the water is moving due to wind, or is it raining, is there any debris in the water, for example wood, logs, branches, trees etc., these are all hiding places for trout.
What ripples are there? Do I fish up, across or down stream? These are all decisions that you have to make after accessing the location you have chosen to fish.
You still also then have to take into account what bait do I use? Live or synthetic bait? If it is live bait, is it worms, larva or do I pay more and get chub like the experienced fishermen do at times. If you decide to use a synthetic type of bait, what color, what pattern, size, weight etc, they all come into play for the day ahead.
Now can you see the reason trout fishing is a fantastic activity, countless people love it because it a challenge, but a good challenge. The trout do not get caught easily and say pull me in, they will battle and mess with you. The instant you pull that first trout in, you will be overjoyed and hopefully delighted.
One pointer when you find your location for the day. Do not budge from it. If you keep moving up and down your location you will have no joy at all catching trout.
Assess the conditions, including the water temperature, water movement, weather conditions etc., can you see ripples? Do I fish so the bait moves towards the ripples? Get you assessments done properly when you are pitching up and then stick with that position.
Just keep trying different types of bait, lure, fly, weight, color etc. and you will discover what is fitting that day, just take your time, and enjoy your day out and the fantastic challenges of the trout fish.
