A Girl's Guide to Understanding Men at Nightclubs and Bars

The famous quote "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus" is typified perfectly in bars and nightclubs around the world. Whether it is an evolutionary, psychological or social phenomenon, when it comes to meeting that special someone at the bar, or on the dance floor, men and women just speak two different languages.

Whether it be a guy trying to buy a girl a drink being perceived as coming across sleazy, or a girl flirtatiously dancing with a guy coming across as promiscuous, there is a massive gulf in perception between the sexes on the identical situations that take place every day in bars and nightclubs around the world.

As a male, I can only speak for us when I say that when it comes to the delicate art of courting at bars and nightclubs, the goalposts are consistently shifting. Sometimes it's okay just to start dancing with a random chick on the dance floor, sometimes it isn't. Normally it's okay to walk up to a group of girls and start talking about how good they look, sometimes it isn't.

Despite this, the most confusion a typical guy feels in a bar or nightclub surrounds what a girl is wearing and how this communicates her intentions. For example: A girl walking round the club in a tight-white miniskirt, high heels and low cut top. Is she looking to meet someone, or is she just there for a quiet drink with her friends. Conversely, a girl wearing jeans and flat shoes... is she not interested at all in meeting a guy, or does she simply want a guy to judge her on her smarts rather than the way she looks.

While the jury is out in these situations for the boys, girls have an uncanny ability to tell what the same girl is looking for as she struts her stuff, and are seemingly dumbfounded by guys who have no idea.
