I consider myself a connoisseur of various pencil games. I have already written an article on one of the games I like, crossword puzzles. I will now talk about word search puzzles or word seeks. In 1968, word search puzzles were published by Norman E. Gilbert in a magazine called, Selenby Digest. These first word search puzzles were published in Norman, Oklahoma. I am going to talk about why I like this type of pencil game and where you can find them. Before I start, I want to take a few minutes and talk about the benefits of working word search puzzles.
Working crossword and word search puzzles provides benefits to people mentally. By doing these types of puzzles, it helps keep the mind sharp and stay sharp. By doing these mental exercises, it is possible to help ward off dementia. Working these kinds of puzzles will also help you build and improve your vocabulary.
Now, shall we get to why I like this type of puzzle. I like this type of puzzle in addition to crosswords. I also like to work fill in puzzles as well. To solve word seek puzzles is fairly easy to do. You are provided with a list of words and have to find the words in the puzzle by circling them. It helps to cross off the words in the list once you have found them. The words in the puzzle can be found diagonally, across or left to right. I find it nice that with word search puzzles that there are no solving levels like with crossword puzzles; like easy, medium or hard. I find doing these particular puzzles enjoyable and relaxing. I also find them entertaining as well. I find them to be certainly more entertaining than television. I think they are nice divergence from the news, whether it is economic or political. I try to work them for about an hour a day, but I could easily do them all day.
Now, I will tell you where you can find word seek puzzles. The two titles I like are Penny Press and Dell. Penny Press and Dell also publish crossword puzzles. You can find these publications at your grocery store or drug store. If you can't find them at those two locations, you can always find them at Walmart. Since Walmart has everything. If you don't to go out and buy a book, you can always go to the PennyPress Dell website and buy some. The best part is if you order online they will be shipped right to your door. The books are pretty inexpensive. They cost about a few dollars. If you don't want to spend any money, you can find them using the Internet.
My advice to you is to pick up your pencil and try word searches and see if you like them as much as I do. If you don't have any to work, you purchase a book at your grocery store for a few dollars. If you don't want to go to the grocery store, you can order some from the PennyPress website and have them shipped right to you. Or if you don't want to spend money right now you can find them on the Internet for free. So, grab your pencil and start solving today.
