A few months ago I lost 10 pounds in 7 days and eventually 17 pounds in 20 days. I did not exercise, I did not starve, and I was not bored with food.
All I did was change a few things in my diet which I'll outline for you below:
- I stopped eating bleached foods. This includes white sugar, white pasta, white bread.
- I ate 5-6 times per day with the largest meal in the morning.
- I did not eat any food that was packaged, pre-cooked, pre-mixed, or pre-made (with a few exceptions).
- I drank at least 8 glasses of water per day.
- I exercised portion control but I didn't get crazy measuring and weighing everything I ate. I just ate consciously, stopped when I felt full.
Whole foods, wholesome foods. I started my day with a three egg omelette and 1/2 cup of oatmeal. At lunch I'd have home made soup or a salad or a sandwich - making my own salad dressing and sandwiches were made on whole wheat wraps or grain bread. Dinner - eaten with my family - was standard food fare such as pasta (whole wheat or brown rice pasta) or meat and potatoes and vegetables.
Really, when I think about it, this is the way we all ate a few generations ago. Before there was a fast food restaurant on every corner and before there were so many complete meals in the freezer section of the grocery store to tempt us.
Come to think about it further - we weren't all obese back then either. Take a look at some old photographs of your family a few generations back. No one was fat! Now take a look around the street you live on, the mall you visit, maybe even your family members. We're all larger than we've ever been in history. Some may blame lack of exercise due to the computer age, or video games, or television but in truth lack of exercise is only 1/2 of the equation. Diet is the other half. If it wasn't I wouldn't have been able to lose 10 pounds in 10 days just by removing processed foods from my daily intake.
