Walk in to virtually any home anywhere in the world and it is likely that they will all have one thing in common and that is that they will all have a sofa of some shape or form. The sofa has changed a lot over the years it originated in France during the Renaissance period. However, the very first sofas were quite primitive with a wooden framework and then upholstered in leather. Modern sofas are much more elaborate and come with padding and springs making them far comfier, they also come in a range of materials including leather but also fabric sofas are equally popular these days.

Over the years it is fair to say that the sofa has evolved and there are now a considerable variety of styles to choose from. Traditionally one of the most popular styles is the three piece suite which usually consists of a three seater sofa and two chairs. Two seater sofas are popular with people where space is limited and are now often part of a three piece suite.

Recliner sofas are a favourite with people who like to use their sofas as a place to kick back and relax. At the pull of a lever the sofa goes from a normal sofa to a recliner sofa. The back often reclines and the kick board transforms into a footstool allowing you to experience an extraordinary level of comfort.

One of the most fashionable sofas currently is the corner sofa. Corner sofas usually come in sections and when put together form an L shaped sofa. Corner sofas have a contemporary sleek look and offer a large amount of seating for the amount of space they take up.

There is also an endless choice of colours, fabrics and patterns to choose from. Price also differs greatly but there is something to suit virtually any budget. There are many considerations to make when buying a new sofa but ultimately one of the most important deciding factors has changed very little since those first sofas in the Renaissance era and that is how comfy a sofa is when you sit on it.
