8 Simple Tips to Help Save the Garden Fairies - Garden Ideas to Give the Fairies a Home to Live
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Faeries, as you will know, have been inhabiting enchanted forests and fairy glens for many centuries.  From the spirited fairies of Denmark to the more roguish fairy and other magic folk of North America, the many fairy clans have lived in peaceful, harmonious environments all their long, magic lives.

Sadly in recent times, enchanted gardens and forests have been reduced largely due to rapid urban development.  This has meant that magic fairies have needed to find other places to live.

Some have relocated into homes, causing all sorts of problems with modern technology (because they try and use this technology while you're not home and end up breaking items instead).

So what can we do to help the faerie folk in these modern times?

1. We can provide them with a place to live comfortably.  This could be as simple as a hollow log in a protected corner of your garden.

2.  If you live in a home with no garden, then why not offer the fairies a place to get comfortable on your balcony or front entrance.  This little piece of fairy comfort could be a little rocking chair or a toad stool.

3.  Start greening your outdoor living areas - buy or borrow a bonsai if you live in an  apartment, help your children plant a tree if you have a garden.  Once you've done this, create a fairy shelter using some large leaves and twigs.

4.  Plant flowers.  All fairies love flowers.  They love the privacy they provide as well as the sweet smells.  From a small planter box through to planting around an existing tree, this will go a long way to helping garden fairies.

5.  Design a rockery.  The more rustic and forest-like a garden is, the happier you'll make the fairies.  Rocks of different sizes and shapes are easy to find, then sprinkle some native grass seeds and native flower seeds.

6.  Fairies love fairy food.  If you have made a fairy garden, then attract the fairies by baking their favourite treats. Also provide them with a little water feature so they can bathe and drink.

7.  Fairies love happiness and will always gather where laughter and joy can be found.  Instead of being sad, think about how you'll be helping the fairies by looking on the brighter side of an argument.

8.  Garden fairies need protection from the weather.  Make sure you have plenty of small plants around your larger ones, make sure that your fairy garden is shielded from high winds and try to include many items they can use as fairy houses

I love fairy gardens - see me at http://www.YourFairyGarden.Com. I'm passionate about the plight of faeries and enjoy the happiness and laughter that building a fairy garden brings to my family. From the very young to the young at heart, you can make your own fairy garden and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
