It can be quite embarrassing to stare at the face of someone whom you have just met and not remember their name. This often occurs because we hear what people say, but we are not focused on their actual words. This really means that we are not listening. We are simply going through the motions and are either thinking about something else, or distracted by our surroundings. The good news is that there is a way to overcome this challenge that we all face.

Below are 5 tips that you can implement in your own life. These tips should help you when it comes to remembering peoples names.

1. The first step that you should take to recall the names of the people that you meet is know that it is possible to remember a person's name. While this may sound like a simple task, many people may not believe that this is an achievable goal. If you are a member of the forget the name of everyone that you meet society, you must realize that you can cancel your membership at any time.

2. The second key to name recall is saying the name again of someone whom you have just had the pleasure of meeting. This will aid you in your battle with this challenge. Since we all love to hear our names repeated, the person whose name you repeat will not mind you repeating their first name. In fact, this is a great way to show the person that you earnestly want to say their name correctly. If you make a mistake and mispronounce their name, they can correct you so that you will not repeat the same embarrassing error.

3. Once you have implemented the two strategies above, you are now ready for a third tip which will help with those names that are very hard to pronounce. This involves seeing their name in a printed format. If you have a pen in your pocket, you can write their name down on a piece of paper. This will allow you to actually see their name in front of you, and may make it easier to remember.

4. Another tip that you can use is to let the person you have just met be introduced to your spouse or friend. This will further cement this person's name in your mind.

5. The final tip that you can use for remembering peoples names is to associate the person with a particular item or place. For example, if they are from Florida, you could see them as Tony from Tampa, or Tammy from Toledo. This may also cause them to laugh as they have never been greeted in that fashion in the past.

Forgetting names can be a thing of the past if you just put a few of the above tips into practice today! Believe that you can remember a person's name, and that belief will become your reality. Remember to any person the sound of their name is the sweetest most important sound in any language. By remembering their name you have made an instant connection whether you are trying to sell them something, motivate them or lead them.
