5 Tips to Realizing Any Goal

1. Keep a reminder of your goal in front of you everyday. Tape a word or picture up where you'll see it, ask a friend to email you, journal, whatever works for you.

2. Create an active phrase that you can remind yourself of what you're accomplishing. For example, maybe you want to lose weight so that you can be healthier. A supportive, active phrase might be: Now and in every moment I am making choices that make me healthier.

3. Be supported. Have a coach, mentor or friend you can connect with on a regular basis to share successes and challenges along the way, and who can help you keep a good perspective on the progress you're making. Most of us don't cut our own hair because we just can't see the backs of our heads well enough. The same is true when we look at our lives: we can't always see things as clearly as someone else might. Find someone you trust and allow them to help you see what you might be missing.

4. At each step ask yourself: What one thing might stop me and how will I handle it? This allows you to plan for contingencies. Knowing in advance what road blocks might come up during any step and already having a plan in place to address it, allows you to feel more confident and supports your success.

5. Remember, enthusiasm breeds more enthusiasm. Celebrate the little things. Acknowledging your work and success along the way keeps your excitement up and makes the challenges appear smaller.

What's the most important thing though? Keep going. Each step counts no matter how small it might be. And you are worth it.
