1) Learn to use the proper keywords for your site. You might ask "How do I even know what keywords to use?" That's a good question and a very important one too! You can use a tool on sites such as wordtracker.com or nichebot.com and they will tell you what keywords are popular but more importantly how many competitors are out there! For Wordtracker, any score of more than 50 is a word well worth optimizing for your site. The problem for most sites is coming up with keywords then they end up just repeating them on every single page. NO! Keep it specific; use a keyword only if it is used in the page within the text. If you don't do this you could be penalized!
2) Of all the information in your site, your title is the most appreciated and regarded by Google! It will be the text that appears at the top of your browser, and it will provide confirmation to the user that they arrived at the correct web destination. If your site was about Baseball, Your title should be something like, "Learn the secrets to becoming a great baseball player".
3) Make sure to include meta keywords. These are your keywords that are under which you feel your website should be ranked under. It is important to include a meta description that you want, otherwise it will be chosen randomly from a page on your site. When this happens, it can come out totally wrong and it might not make much sense. So it is best to write out what you are offering and what your site is about for your meta description.
4) Google does not like redirects... If you buy many key word heavy domains... be sure to set up single web pages for them all and not redirects. It is better to have a keyword-heavy site with a link through your main site than to draw users across by using a redirect.
5) PageRank is an important part of Google's ranking algorithm. You need to increase your PageRank to increase your rank on searches therefore increasing your TRAFFIC! The PageRank is increased by pages from other sites linking to it, and the higher the rating by linking sites, the more beneficial it will be for your own site. A handful of links from sites with a page ranking of 5 or above is going to be way more valuable than hunting around for hundreds of low-ranking sites.
