5 E-Mail Marketing Tips For 2010

Expert Author Ricky J K Ruto

Okay so You've got Your list after people have been signing up through your landing page and your autoresponder has been working away making sure that people are getting the subsequent messages You meant them to.

Now after the first cycle of messages have been sent the question remains. What now?

The fact about e-mail marketing is that the standard practices have stayed the same since the inception of the idea. Basically marketers continually send messages everyday until the person on the list either caves in and buys or simply blocks their e-mails. This method is effective if You'd like to lose more potential customers than You keep.

On the other hand if You'd like to keep those on Your list on it with them actually reading Your messages here are 5 great tips.

1. Remember Holidays

When holidays come around remember to have a special message to send. This message should not only include happy wishes for the holiday but also a special present for Your list members. A free e-book, video series, print-off coupon or other free present will ensure that the members of Your list know that You are keeping them first.

2. Less Frequency

Though it might seem like a great idea to mail everyday with a reminder that Your offer is still online or that it's just about to go offline it actually tends to become annoying after a while.

After a person has been to Your landing page, signed up, watched the video or read the book about Your service or product they pretty much know if they're going to buy or not.

In some cases they will need a reminder or two but everyday is quite simply too much. Once a week or bi-weekly is more than enough.

Also remember to change Your message from time to time or include new graphics. Reading the same thing over and over again will serve to push people away.

3. Accessibility

When making messages try to ensure that anybody can read it. This means that even if they are only able to view plain text the message should be effective. This will ensure that more people have access to Your wonderful product or service.

4. Keep it Fresh

When using e-mail marketing as part of Your affiliate marketing campaign always remember to change the offer to something new every couple of weeks. With the change of offer include a change in subject line. This ensures that the people on Your list will be more drawn to Your messages as they are offering something new and interesting.

5. Watch the Subject

When making subject lines watch over-capitalization and over-punctuation. 'CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS?!!!' or 'THIS CAN'T BE REAL!' may seem like great subject lines and in many cases people may open them but after a while they will start deleting them. Also if You ask Yourself what these subject lines look like spam would be the most honest answer. This fact being something You don't want Your e-mail to look like.

Thank You for reading and have a wonderful day.
