Just a basic easy golf swing - Isn't that what you're looking for? A consistent, reliable golf swing that you can count on at that first tee? So just why do we hook and slice so many shots? A slice is when the ball starts left of the target and finishes a long way right. The reason for this is too much body action and not enough hands which results in the club head being open on impact. Whereas a hook, right to left is the opposite.
Your driver is the longest club in your bag and the hardest to control. Everybody gets on the tee and wants to hit the ball as far as they possibly can, but you must mentally accept one fact - you will drive the ball further and much more accurately if you do not try to hit the ball hard.
There are 3 key areas to fix golf slice that you need to get right to ensure your shots are straight every time.
1. Stance Your golf stance may not be perfect, but you can compensate by staying balanced and relaxed. Your weight should be equally distributed over your left and right leg. If you can pick either of your feet off the ground, you're not balanced. Your ball placement for your tee shot should be just inside your front foot.
2. Alignment No matter how good your golf swing is - if you are aiming in the wrong direction you will obviously have problems. Most players know that as well as lining up the club face at address that they must also line up their feet at a line parallel to the target line.
But one thing that even some advanced players forget is that although their feet are correctly aligned, they should also make sure that the shoulders are correctly aimed. This can be done by holding a club across the chest and aiming it down the correct parallel aim line. When the whole body is aimed and aligned correctly, it makes a simple, none compensating golf swing so much easier to achieve.
3. Grip It is very easy when trying to go for more distance to grip the club too tightly. This immediately creates tension throughout the body - at best slowing muscles and reducing club head speed, at worst causing you to snatch the club back and take the swing out of the ideal swing plane. You need to make a conscious effort to grip the club lightly.
Get these 3 areas right and your club head will be square on impact and you will be hitting straight shots every time, no more golf swing slice.
