3 Ways I Improve My Gas Mileage Without Spending a Dime!
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

I improve my gas mileage by 38%, without spending any money, or "converting" my car. It's the equivalent to saving almost $2 per gallon, and you can do it too.

The first step to improve my gas mileage is to figure out just what my gas mileage is to begin with. I do this with a gas mileage calculator, a simple method of dividing miles driven by number of gallons used. You can do this easily if your car has a "trip meter". There are also devices that will help you calculate your mpg.

Next, I look after all the "onboard" factors that improve my gas mileage. I make sure my air motor oil and filter is clean, that my tires are properly inflated, that I remove any unnecessary weight from my trunk and back seat. Just these steps alone will save me as much as another 15%.

Next, I find the lowest octane gas that my car can use. Just switching from 89 to 87 can save my $.40 per gallon, or another 10%.

But the most important thing I can do to improve my gas mileage is to adjust the way I drive. I drive slower, I avoid driving during rush-hour when there is a lot of stop-and-go traffic. I do my errands during off-peak hours, and I combine my errands into a single trip wherever possible.

With just these simple, no-cost steps, I can improve my gas mileage by more than 30%. I also spend time reading about other ways I can save money by changing the way I drive and how I plan my errands. Websites like Gas For Less Money help keep me updated on gas conservation and fuel economy. It's an ongoing battle against these crazy gas prices!

Find out all the other ways I improve my gas mileage at Gas For Less Money, and save up to $2 per gallon every time I fill up!
