3 Simple Ways to Creating a Profitable Opt In List

Expert Author Paul Roger Barnett

They say the money is in the list. If you have been trying to run your website business without an opt-in list then you have been leaving potential sales on the table. You may have read the countless stories of people having success with this method, but found it never worked for you. In this article I will cover 3 simple ways to creating a profitable opt in list.

You may find you are in fact losing money because you are spending more on getting people to write for you or help in general. You've managed to accumulate a huge list of customers, but find you only make one or two sales from time to time. You start to get frustrated and ask yourself why it is just not working for you.

So where do you think you went wrong? Why are other people doing so well in their online business ventures and you are failing? Could it be that you plunged headfirst into your venture without really thinking about what you were actually doing? Did you pick a subject that you know little or nothing about, but heard it is a good one to choose?

Having a big list means nothing if you are not engaging with them. You must show them that you know what you are talking about.

Now I will outline three strategies to build a successful profitable opt-in list.

1) Gain the respect and trust of your customers

In order to do this you should post plenty of worthwhile content on your website. Make sure you are giving value to the customer and are not simply rewriting posts or articles you have found elsewhere. The customer is looking for something and you should aim to target that need. You can discover what it is that the customer in your niche is likely to want by visiting forums related to your niche.

Put a link back to your site in your forum profile. As you answer questions and provide advice people will start to see you as an authority on your subject and will visit your site. Then you should start to build your opt-in list. People will only buy from you if they feel they know you and this can only happen by building trust first.

2) Look for a product or service that your customers are in need of

You don't have to be totally interested in the product yourself, but as long as the customer finds value then you are onto a winner. You need to research this well.

Give freebies to be used as promotional material. This gives them an idea of what they are likely to get. Everyone loves free stuff and they may even give to others, so don't hold back on this.

3) Look at getting involved in joint ventures

This means joining up with other opt-in list owners. They can be a good judge of your product or service. Also they may have huge lists of subscribers and you can promote your product or service to that list as well as your own. They may have more experience than you in the niche and can tell you the pitfalls to avoid.

It takes time to build a profitable opt-in list. Don't expect results overnight. Be patient and the results will come. Also it is important to do some housekeeping on your list. Remove the freebie seekers and keep track of your regular buyers. Keep the subscribers happy and keep providing valuable content to them.
