Even though resolving anger issues may take a different path for you than it would for me, there are still some common mistakes that someone can make when they first start down the path of healing themselves. In this article, I will elaborate on these common mistakes so you can avoid them.
1. People think they can avoid positive thinking.
Going through life as a Bitter Betty is a miserable way to exist. Even when good things happen to people that don't think positively, they still see the negative in the situation. These people would win the lottery and complain about all of the taxes they have to pay to Uncle Sam instead of enjoying the money they have left after paying their taxes.
If you are truly serious about resolving your anger issues, you must consciously change your way of thinking from negative to positive in order for you to be successful. After about a month of thinking and emoting positive energy, you will no longer have to consciously think about it and you will naturally attract more positive energy. Just try it for a week, you will definitely be surprised.
2. They fail to understand their anger.
People that fail to understand the underlying situation or person that has caused them to be angry will never get over their anger. These people will wander aimlessly trying to resolve their anger issues, but never fully recover because they don't truly understand why they are angry.
There is no correct way to understand your anger. What may work for you will not work for the next person. One method that may work is to self meditate. Go to a quiet place away from the kids and all distractions and think about things that upset you. Are these things that upset you the cause of your anger or just a symptom. Don't just think of recent events, go way back to your childhood. Keep doing this until you think you have found the problem.
3. They fail to forgive.
Forgiving those that have made us angry is and extremely important step in anger management. If you cannot forgive, you will never be able to let go. Take the time to ceremoniously forgive those that have hurt you and you will have a physical way to throw out the feelings and people that have made you angry in the past. Some people will write about the situation that upset them and then tear up or burn the piece of paper. Once the paper is gone the anger is supposed to follow and then you can wish those that have angered you well allowing you to move on with your life.
