3 Easy Ways to Drop 10 Points Off of Your Blood Pressure

Most people know that a normal blood pressure reading is 120/80. But what if you're above that? How high is too high?

If your number are higher than 139/99, you are considered to be hypertensive. Anything in between those two sets of numbers is considered pre-hypertensive. If you are in either of these categories, let's get those numbers back down to normal right away! Here is how you can do it (and always check with your doctor first!)

The quickest way to get your blood pressure down is with exercise. Many of us hate to do it, but the bottom line is that 30 minutes of exercise every day, and nothing else, can lower your BP by as much as 4 points. Make this a regular part of your daily life, and you are already well on your way.

Potassium - you may have been instructed by your MD in the past to lower of cut out your salt intake completely. Unfortunately, this only solves half of the problem. Your body absolutely requires a balance of sodium (salt) and potassium.

Now, we get a fair amount of potassium in our normal diets, but most of it is so highly processed that it does us little good. Thus, a fresh source of potassium is essential. Most people know bananas are loaded with it. So enjoy a banana a day and watch your BP drop another 3 points within the span of a couple of weeks.

Water - with all the sodas and energy drinks available today, people are not consuming nearly enough water. Water is vital to flushing your system of salt and other toxins. It also allows your kidneys to function of peak efficiency. Drinking 6-8 glasses of water daily will soften your arteries, reducing the pressure inside of them.

By following these tips, it's possible to shave up to 10 points from your blood pressure in just a few weeks.
