3 Easy Steps on How to Learn to Sing Harmony

This article is for those people who are struggling to learn how to sing in harmony. They could be both a newbie singer of a seasoned singing but have not tried singing with a group yet.

Every serious singer should seriously learn the art and skill of singing in harmony. This will help them to get more singing gigs, enjoy performing more and have fun singing with others. And most importantly, it will help them to stay on key and sound better whether they're singing a solo or in a group.

Before proceeding, you'll need a voice box, some music, access to a piano.

In doing this kind of thing, you must know how to sing in sing. That's the first important thing. Singing in harmony requires all of the singers to sing in different pitches. Practice first on a piano if you are singing on tune. Play a single note and sing that note.

You can also ask help from someone who can listen to you while you do your part to tell you if you are singing on pitch. You can hear the note better if you listen to your own voice specially if you sang it nice and soft.

You can then try singing notes higher or lower from the original key. This is after you have master your line or your part on pitch with the melody of the song. This is where a music sheet can be handy. Use it to sing the harmony line. Learn it like a separate song.

Once you know the harmony part of the song, you can try and singing it with the accompanying melody at the same time. This can be hard and tricky initially. One way you can go about this is you can ask help from someone and have him play or sing the other line. Once all is good and you have mastered the harmony line you can sing by your own voices and exclude the piano or any musical instrument, as in Capella song.

Try this a couple of times until it becomes second nature to you.
