What is going on with the Detroit Tigers? The Tigers went into the 2010 MLB Picks all star break on top of their game and were one of the hottest teams in Major League Baseball, that is until they met up with the Cleveland Indians at Jacobs field in Cleveland, Ohio on July 16, 17 & 18. The Indians are one of the worst teams in baseball and do not have a chance to compete for the AL Central divisional title but what they did was sweep the Tigers in a 4 game set and that hurt Detroit. It was this time last week, before the all star break when another division leading team was swept, when the worst team in Baseball, the Baltimore Orioles swept the NL west leading Texas Rangers. This one is a little more devastating, Detroit had everything going for them got caught in their own success. Cleveland earned its first four-game home sweep over Detroit since 1991. Detroit was outscored in the series 21-8, has lost five in a row overall and fell to 16-29 on the road and 16-21 in the AL Central.
Detroit is 5-5 their last 10 games and they had better tighten up things around the motor city,because the Texas Rangers will come into town on Monday July 19th for an important series, Texas will try to extend their lead in the NL West while Detroit just need to get a win. Texas just completed a series with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park in Boston. This sports handicapper is looking forward to seeing which team will show up for Texas and Detroit. Will it be the Texas team that is in first place or will it be the team that was swept by the Baltimore Orioles, the same goes for Detroit, which tigers team will be playing against the Rangers? The Tigers will not see Cliff Lee in the series which will probably help but the Texas bats will be alive, this team can hit the baseball so the Detroit pitching staff had better be on their game.
