10 Common Sense Tips to Use When Losing Weight

Losing weight becomes a task for most people. Especially if your weight is way beyond what is normal according to the Body Mass Index. You tend to look for diets, fads and slimming medicines to get things done. And with all this, you fail. Not because the process you underwent were not effective, but because you're doing things that you're not suppose to do, or there are things that you are not doing that you are suppose to do.

Like in the case of exercise. A lot of us knows that exercise is a way to lose weight, medical studies all around the world shows that stretching muscles and doing cardio workouts are the way to go. But we don't do it simply because it's difficult or we're too busy. And then, our body and mind suffers because we've been injecting medicines and drinking diarrhea teas for so long.

Lifestyle change is essential for weight loss. It's not enough to follow a certain weight loss fad today and gain more pounds later after you realized that you're too tired to follow that fad. However, there are practical things that we could do, without affecting much of our lifestyle and not requiring too much of a sacrifice from us. Ready to learn? You might be surprised on how common these tips will be, and the result depends on how these common sense tips will be followed.

1. Avoid believing the high-protein, no carbs diet or vegetarian lifestyle if you know you can't maintain that lifestyle! Why? Because when you do any of these for a few weeks, and your body gets used to it losing that certain element - Carbs, you're body will go on a plateau. Meaning you would not lose much weight anymore because your body is used to that type of eating. And then you quit, you indulge in chocolates and rice once again. You will gain your weight much faster that way!

2. Drink plenty of water. Not soda, not artificial juices but pure H2O. This will flush out toxins and of course make you feel full.

3. Chew your food. There are some people who just chew twice of thrice then swallow. It is better to chew it longer than usual so you can enjoy the food. You will notice not too long after you'll get the feeling of satiety. As Horace Fletcher puts it "It normally takes the brain around 20 minutes to register the feeling of fullness, commencing from the time a person begins to eat. In effect, a person who eats his meals quickly achieves a satiated state well in advance of the 20 minutes."

4. Brush your teeth after every meal. When your mouth tastes like toothpaste already, your mind tend to avoid thinking about food. It worked for other people to stop getting second serving. Kind of like feeling that you have done the "end ritual" to your meal.

5. Set weight loss goal. Very important that you know where you are going so a goal is not something you can do without. How do you know that you're making a development if you don't have one. Writing the goal is highly suggested.

6. Exercise. Yes, EXERCISE. You really don't have to spend too much time at the gym if you don't want to. Just use the stairs instead of elevator. Or park your car at a far place from where you're going to encourage walking.

7. Do not deprive yourself. If you're brain is telling you that you want chocolate, then have some. The key here is the word SOME. Eat it only when you're brain calls for it, not EVERY TIME your eyes sets on it. Depriving your body something that it wants will cause it to think of it even more, and when you get a hold of what you want, you can expect a binge.

8. Do not overeat. If you feel you are full then stop eating!

9. Eat food rich in fiber to encourage proper digestion and healthy bowel movement.

10. Be happy. Thinking happy thoughts avoids depression. And you know that with depression comes a not-so-healthy craving for a whole chocolate cake right? So there, not so difficult to follow weight loss tips. Just minor lifestyle changes you need to do.
Oh, and of course don't do it for anyone else, you tend to get discouraged easier. Do it for yourself, to look good and feel good.
